Updates

Here are some updates about stuff I haven't written about in a while:
My Hummingbird Feeder:
I put two out thinking that with the woods behind my house, I would have hummingbirds beating my door down. I was wrong. I saw one. I eventually took down the feeders in defeat. In the couple of weeks they were up, 2000 ants of various sizes tried to eat out of them but ended up drowning. So I cleaned them out and just left them on my deck in the corner. Then a couple of weeks ago, I saw a hummingbird try to eat out of one of the empty feeders. So I filled one and put it outside and now I get hummingbirds all the time. Ants still jump in and die, but I clean it out more often. If you were thinking that dead ants in nectar smelled bad, you would be correct.
My orchid:
I did some more research and the orchid I have blooms for about three months, then it could be six months to a year until it blooms again, if I can get it to at all. I thought it might enjoy some direct sunlight, but I was wrong, I gave it leaf burn. So I read you are supposed to chop the stem when it is done blooming and chop the leaves if they get burned, so basically, I have no plant left and I probably killed it. It will probably go live at Nicole's house because that's where all plants go when you've almost killed them. Her thumb is as green as they get. And she's not afraid to shoot a cute little bunny if it comes into her garden, but I digress...
My dogs:
They are at perfect weight as far as I'm concerned. They need to be shaved again, but I think it's Todd's turn to do it, I DO NOT have the mental strength to do that again this year. But they are good. Riley occasionally lets out a bark in the house. But never more than one and its pretty rare. No need for cold water in the face again.
Turtles:
No more turtles in the yard or in Laney's mouth. So bad photography wise, but good turtle wise.
Mice:
No more dead mice sightings in the dog room or in the yard. That's good for everyone, except Laney...
