All men created equal?
I'm here to tell you, all men are not created equal. Which you kind of have to love the irony of that being our mantra since day one, and then we have the gall to have slaves... but I digress...I'm here to tell you that you do not come into this world even stevens with the rest of society, your worth is completely reliant on your worth to your own mother. Lets say you are a fetus. If your mom really really doesn't want you, one trip to the abortion clinic and the rest of the world may not even know you existed. And by the way, fetus are alive, that whole arguement that they aren't is total legal mumbo jumbo crap. If your mom does indeed really really want you, then she takes her vitamins, eats right, goes to the doctor, and tells everyone she knows that you exist and parties are had in your honor, even though you are a fetus. Even a mother in the poorest situation, who does love and want her unborn child, can use all sorts of programs to give her fetus everything he or she needs, so because of how much the mother cares, the health of her baby at birth can be just as good as someone with top of the line health care. Similarly, any mother, regardless of social status, who is luke warm about her pregnancy or just plain self-centered, can do all kinds of not-the-best things to her fetus along the lines of smoking, drinking, drugs, not going to the doctor, or listening to the doctor. A fetus with very rich parents with a mother that is prone to smoking and the afternoon cocktail is at quite the disadvantage to the poor mother who does her very best for her fetus. How is it that we can do life saving surgeries on fetuses one minute, and abort perfectly healthy ones the next? Because your worth is totally based on what your mother feels about you.
So now the kids are on the ground. A child's worth is so dependant to what its mother thinks of it, that all the schools and money in the world, cannot undo a mother who ignors the child and leaves it with nannies. Similarly, a child in poor upbringings who is taught by its mother that it can accomplish anything if he or she tries hard enough, has tons more self esteem and will accomplish far more than the poor little rich kid probably ever could.
If your children take you for granted sometimes, that is almost a testament to good motherhood, because a child should expect nothing less than unconditional love and encouragement from its mother. So in this season of Mother's Day... could you have accomplished what you have today if your mother was a crack whore or if you were raised by nannies? So thank your mom for taking her vitamins ever so many years ago.
